Comcast is dropping Microsoft on-screen guides and software from its Washington digital service. Comcast based from Philadelphia plans to use Guideworks' technology. They provide the channel-surfing guides and cable-box software for Comcast's networks for the rest of the country. Comcast spokesman Steve Kipp told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer the change will give customers a more consistent experience and allow them to more easily make changes and add features to the channel guide. From June to early September, the new guide will be rolled out automatically to digital cable boxes.
