EchoStar Reports 7 Percent Jump in First Quarter Profits |

With the addition of 310,000 new subscribers during the last quarter, EchoStar said its first quarter profit rose seven percent. These numbers are up 38 percent from the 225,000 new subscribers during the same period in 2006. Revenue on the whole grew in a year from $2.30 billion to $2.64 billion, up 15 percent. The year before, revenue grew from $2.2 billion to $2.55 billion. Monthly average revenue per subscriber went from $60.17 last year to $64.17 this year, mainly due to price increases in February. Still, the monthly average revenue per subscriber is up 6.5 percent from last year.
